I'm have used web hosting companies since 1999, and have had some good and some bad hosts. When I started to use webhostingtalk, I saw many reviews, but after some research I got the impression that very many reviews are made by the company or someone who gets money/free hosting etc from the companies. My reviews uses the same template on all hosts. Only two of eight scores are based on things a company can do anything with. All the other scores are based on real information they don't have any way to change, like server uptime, network speeds etc.

I'm alway taking advices from other reader on WHT, and if you have some tips, advice etc, please use on of the e-mails below.

My server @godaddy.com

I have now a dedicated server with godaddy.com in Atlanta. The server specs:

Intel Celeron 2.0 Ghz, 1024 MB RAM, 120 GB disk, 50 GB backup disk, 100 mbps port, Windows 2003 web ed., Plesk 7.5.4........

How do I test / what do I test?

I'm testing all server speeds from my dedicated server in USA. The server have a 100mbps port, and uses the godaddy.com network I upload and download files from 100 - 250 MB with FTP to check the upload and download speed. On my 100mbps port I will get around 12 MB/s if I get 100% speed both ways. But around 10 MB/s are the best speed I have got so fare.

For the server uptime test I uses a Hyperspin monitor with a test intervall of 5 minutes.

I send mails without my name or website to check reply times on sales mails.

Support tickets do I check when I send a mail or ticket to support asking for something one time under my test.
